Bookmatched wenge top with through-wedged tenons to affix leg assembly.
If i were to re-create this table today, I would easily choose four legs. I suspect there may be some formula or guideline for when a tripod assembly is too narrow to stand stably; possibly depending upon height, too; this table falls outside of that. Further research is in order!
